How the range is worked out

  1. Each question has a difficulty level from our question bank. A middle-level question is one an average candidate gets right about two times in three.
  2. In each section we find the ability that best explains how many you got right, allowing for how hard those questions were.
  3. We turn that into a place among the 2,626 candidates for 2026 entry and read the score at that place off the percentiles in UAT-UK's first TARA technical report.
  4. Critical Thinking and Problem Solving are scored separately, as UAT-UK reports them, and never averaged. With six questions each the range is wide; a full 40-minute section narrows it.

Questions

Is this an official TARA paper?

No. The questions are our own, written to the TARA specification and timing, and each one was solved independently by two solvers. UAT-UK publishes the official practice papers.

What about the Writing Task?

It is not here: UAT-UK does not score it, and universities read it themselves. The course's writing desk lets you practise it on the clock.

How long does it take?

About 22 minutes: 10:55 for each section. That is the real test's time per question (22 questions in 40 minutes).

Do I need an account?

No. Your marks and your likely score in each section show straight away. A free account adds the skills to fix first, a two-week plan and every answer worked through, and keeps them.

What is a good TARA score?

For 2026 entry the middle candidate scored 4.0 in Critical Thinking and 4.7 in Problem Solving. The top tenth scored 6.7 and 7.0 or more.
