What it covers

The 16 Oxford and UCL courses that list TARA for 2027 entry, their published module and sitting rules and deadlines, and the 2026-entry score distribution. Cambridge lists no TARA course in the sources checked.

Method

  1. Course rules are copied from each university's own course and admissions-test pages. Where a rule could not be found, such as the module rule for UCL Mechanical Engineering, the tool says so instead of assuming one.
  2. Your scores are placed against all 2026-entry candidates using the same method as the score percentile calculator: straight lines between UAT-UK's printed percentiles.
  3. Historical admissions numbers (Oxford PPE's 2025-26 round, UCL Computer Science's 2024/25 applications) are shown only as context and are labelled as pre-TARA.

Uncertainty and limits

  • No Oxford or UCL course publishes a TARA cut-off, and no public data links TARA scores to offers, so the tool gives no pass mark and no offer chance.
  • The percentiles describe all 2026-entry candidates, mostly UCL applicants. They are not this course's applicants or its offer holders.
  • A September 2026 Reddit post says UCL ranks applicants by the lower of the two scores. UCL has not published this, so it is shown as unconfirmed and not used.
  • Course rules change between cycles. Recheck the course page before you book or apply.

Questions people ask

Does Oxford or UCL publish a TARA cut-off?

No. None of the 16 courses in this tool publishes a TARA pass mark or minimum score for 2027 entry. UCL Computer Science says TARA is considered alongside your grades and personal statement.

Do I have to do the TARA Writing Task?

For most courses, yes. Oxford's Economics and Management and History and Economics pages say the Writing Task can be left out only if no other course you apply to needs it.

Can I take TARA in January?

Only for some courses. Oxford courses need the October 2026 sitting, except PPE with Foundation Year. UCL's Computer Science degrees accept October 2026 or January 2027.

What TARA score do I need for Oxford PPE?

Oxford publishes no TARA score for PPE. As context only, Oxford PPE's 2025-26 round, which used the TSA, had 1,885 applications, 681 shortlisted and 261 offers.
